چکیده

The fluid-structure interaction of a cantilevered plate geometry in Mach 2 flow was studied experimentally to assess the effects structural compliance on surrounding flowfield. test geometry, representative compliant control surface, consists an overhanging that extends past edge backward-facing step create separated region flow. This allowed for study recirculation and unsteady pressure forcing without shock/boundary-layer interactions would be present if were inclined Rigid articles capture fluid response with deformation. Schlieren photography particle image velocimetry showed under conditions during startup wind tunnel flexible exhibited highly dynamic oscillatory frequencies similar its natural vibration response. Under steady, started supersonic conditions, cantilever smaller oscillations around mean deflection two thicknesses. Oil visualization revealed nontrivial three-dimensionality section Modal decomposition stereo digital correlation measurements demonstrated distinct plate’s consistently correspond same mode shapes.

Evolution Semigroups in Supersonic Flow-Plate Interactions

We consider the well-posedness of a model for a flow-structure interaction. This model describes the dynamics of an elastic flexible plate with clamped boundary conditions immersed in a supersonic flow. A perturbed wave equation describes the flow potential. The plate’s out-of-plane displacement can be modeled by various nonlinear plate equations (including von Karman and Berger). Supersonic re...

Simulation of MHD Turbulence-Chemistry Interaction in Supersonic Flow

In order to improve the operational efficiency of scramjet engines, it is necessary to develop new techniques to increase the mixing and flameholding properties at high Mach numbers of current scramjet designs. This paper investigates the high-temperature chemistry and plasmadynamic effects of a discharge arc in a supersonic shear layer. This is the first step in developing a clear understandin...

Experimental Investigations of Supersonic Flow around a Long Axisymmetric Body

A series of supersonic wind tunnel tests on an ogive-cylinder body were performed to investigate the pressure distribution, the boundary layer profiles, and the flow visualization at various angles of attack. All tests were conducted in the trisonic wind tunnel of the Imam Hossein University. The theoretical shock angle at different model positions compared well with those we obtained via Schi...
